childhood memories!

This is what I made for my end of year exihbtion for my National Diploma in Art and Design course, I took a few years ago,I have a love for textiles and had the Idea to try and remember my most frav/ happiest memories from my childhood and make a patch work quilt for my end of year exhibition so I could keep it forever. It turned out that it looked better a individial pieces so that is how I decided to keep it.
We had to do about Childhood memorys as it was the chosen topic for that year!
If any one fancys buying any textiles pieces just let me know .Hope you like them as much as I do! enjoy! ...

My neighbours at the time! Where I live.
 My house!!...
Me and phili doing dance routines to venga boys and steps ..sorry phili!
When I was little my pa used to tell me and my sister that if you found some pattened pottery In the rivers or dug it up from the ground that it was real treasure!! He must have told us alot as me and my sister still call it treasure even these days! hense the pic!
He he! me and philippas experimental cooking, me and my bestie used to make up games when we where younger ! we used to cook up some treats using what ever was in our kitchens or blind fold each other and make either our worst or most frav meal and wed have to eat whatever they gave us,u'd never know whether it was a good food or not until it was in your mouth! lots of funny horrible tasting memories from this!
We as a family always go to hayle for a cheap summer get away, we stay in a really retro campsite where all the beach chalets have the same deco as from the 70's its really cool! Its lovely and chilled there and there are the biggest sand dunes in england there. When the sun went down and we were finished on the beach me and my sister used to race and glide down these Sand dunes on our body boards! I always loved the feeling of feeling soo free running down the dunes !
The best game of my childhood wolfie wolfie! made up game by my pa, he made it up so well I always used to think it was an actual game! It was basically my dad was the wolf out of the big bad wolf story and me and my sister were the pigs! we had to get round the whole garden in a certain way with out being court/eaten! If you got court you had to go to the coldreen where the wolf ate all his things he'd court that day! hah .So many lovely memories from this game.

I sewed the words :"1 peggy,2 peggys,3 peggys ...more"on  because I thought it would make it even more cuter!! I love it and I hope everyone else will too!

Friendship ring from devon to taiwan...!!!!

I made this ring as a birthday present for my friend in London, that had to move back to Taiwan, hence that's why its a friendship/birthday present!!.I made it by buying the ring base from a textile/craft shop then I messed around with different shape and colour buttons until I could imagine how Yung Yu would like it. Found some super glue and stuck buttons onto the base.I'm very happy with the end result and so is Yung Yu!....smiles all round!!

my felt bracelet!!

I made this whole bracelet completely from scratch. It looks pretty easy to make, but it's really not. There's a real knack, you have to get to make the beads into beads instead of blobs that fall apart. You basically have to use strips of fleece and roll them in your hand, using the right amount of oil or fairy liquid in a circular motion until the fleece turns hard into felt. When you have got that ready they need washing and drying then you have to thread them onto the thread to make the bracelet!

A selection of my homemade earrings ...

My homemade mother of pearl ones!....
I got given these clip-ons when my nana passed away. They mean so much to me. I loved them so much I decided to attach them to hooks so I could wear them myself, I'm so grateful to have them!! they're so beautiful!! Think I may keep them my whole life just as my nana did !

These beads were part of an old bracelet I got given, but the elastic broke so I decided to make them into some pretty earrings instead! They're really useful if you wunna dress up a simple outfit, without making it to glammed up !

My sister loved Tiger beer when she was younger. I noticed the bottle tops had a really nice image on them and so decided to make them into earrings!! I love them and so do alot of other people!

When I was younger I got stongly inspired to make jewellery out of found objects. My mum used to take our family to the beach alot when I was younger. I always used to find these shells with natural holes worn in them and just thought they would make some great natural hoop earrings!

My Grandma gave me this bead and I was going to a 80's fancy dress party so I decided to make it into a stud as I thought it would make a great accessory for the particular theme.

These are my lovely home made, antique earrings.I love them because it looks like your rolling with the whole vintage plug image. My neighbour gave me them as buttons and I thought they just had to be made into earrings, so I could keep them for ever and ever! Im pretty sure they are hand painted too!
Experimental mother of peal white little stars and black wooden beads ones :

These are both made from some sort of shell the top one was found in a shell shop in padstow! They had a collection of shells that where sawed right down the middle of the shell and me and my sister thought they so had to be made into earrings as they look amazing,

These are made out of an old wooden beaded necklace an old stone bracelet and some unused spare buttons twisted all together to make this pair of lovely earrings:

And the second one was part of a mother of peal bead set I bought from a local craft shop.I just needed to loop some metal wire together and connect the earring to to hook! Was pretty hard to get the wire hoop straight so the earring were identical to each other!but I reckon Ive done a pretty good job of it!

These are my tropical crafty ones! They are for the ladies that like to wear the big crafty earrings. As for example did my art teachers at school! The bigger the better they always used to tell me!

These are my first ever earrings I ever made,it was set as a D.T project in my school .They are main with tiny strips of articat witch was heated and twilled .

This is another set that I made while going though my found object stage,I wanted to create something a little different for people to see,so decided to make these!! Pretty cute really !....

stuck for a cheap, but lovely birthday pressie try this!! :

I found this great idea in my book called Making Stuff:The Alternative Craft Book, published by Black dog. Its a great book for anyone that gets inspired by making eco friendly craft objects, for in and around the house! This particular idea is called Chai Bath Teabags. They are basically teabags you make full of lovely smelling salts and spices that make your bath smell lovely, and your love for tea goes a step further!! hah.
I'd say they would be perfect for a friend, or Mothers Day pressie!!I'm not sure if its really a guy thing, but how knows some might just love it!

For those that can't read my hand writing here is the ingredients again:!
*stapler
*glue
*3 tbsp loose green tea
*1 tbsp ginger
*1 tbsp cinnamon
*1 tsp cardamom
*1 tsp cloves
*Remnant of white cotton fabric - try using an old (but clean)pillowcase
*White string
* Colourful felt squares
* Old tea box or tin

Please note this is what the book ingredients says so if you don't for instance have an old pillowcase, use a scrap of fabric - charity shops always have some sort of old cloth etc. etc!! ok.

All you need do now is add the ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, loose green tea all together, then pile it into the cloth. Stitch together into a teabag shape, and hay presto your pressie is all made!!*note* for extra cuteness you can cut out some little felt heart shapes and sew/staple them on the end of the teabag!!like this:

My brand spanking new home made I pod case !
